How we DE winterize our camper

When the spring hits and the warmer weather comes it is time to start thinking about dewinterizing our camper. Prepping the camper for the camping season. We start our camping season mid-May and end in October.

The beginning of the season is the most work. Once everything is cleaned out we put everything back in the camper. We take most things out of the camper at the end of the season. Anything that will have freeze damage or linens go in the house over the winter.

First we take off the big tarp. We open up the camper and see if there was any damage done by the cold or rodents. Mice find their way into campers in the winter. We have tried every deterrent in the book. What we have found is the most successful at deterring damage is dryer sheets, removing places that they would like to nest. We put in a sacrificial old blanket last year and they nested in that instead of other places. It worked really well.

Next, we vacuum out any debris left from the mice and wipe down everything. Then it is the fun part. We put all of our stuff back in the camper that we stored indoor. We flush out the lines from the antifreeze on our first camping trip with a full hook up.
